Family First may be de-registered as a charity (opens new window) soon. They have been sent a notice of de-registration from Charities Services, but plan to fight it in court. They have previously defended against an attempt to be de-registered last year (opens new window).

I have a pending complaint with Charities Services to have a charity de-registered that's been on hold for a couple of years. I heard this week about someone else who has a similar complaint that has been on hold for over 3 years now.

My understanding is that the recent Greenpeace case (opens new window) has caused the Department of Internal Affairs, who look after Charities Services, to put many complaints on hold:
